Bartholomew County was formed in the year 1821 and took its name from Lt. Col. Joseph Bartholomew, wounded at the Battle of Tippecanoe. The area covered by the county measures 409.52 sq mi. The area accommodates over an estimated 27K households and 20K family units. Columbus is the county seat.
